Because of the current situation we are unable to offer school tours. However, we want you to get a good feel for the school to help you in your decision-making.
The first thing to do is to watch the video we have made; it will show you parts of the school, the teachers and also show you some of the exciting learning that takes place at Tutshill C of E Primary School.
The second video has been made by the reception class teachers and shares with you what you would see and experience should you and your child join the reception class in September 2021.
We are hopeful that the strong vision that is underpinned by our core Christian values shines through our videos!
Love One Another, Know Ourselves, Believe and Grow.
We are hopeful that the videos will give you an insight in to what our school is like. However, should you have a particular question or would like to have a discussion with the Headteacher, Miss Lane, to discuss your child’s needs, please contact the School Office where a telephone appointment can be made.
We all look forward to welcoming you to Tutshill C of E School!
This term we value: Responsibility
‘Love One Another, Know Ourselves, Believe and Grow’
From the vision stem seven core Christian values, which we embed in the life of our school.
Love One Another
This encapsulates our ethos as a Christian school, where we all care for each other as a school community. The Christian Values of Forgiveness and Compassion reflect this part of our vision in a way that all stakeholders can relate to.
This part of our vision works on two important levels. In terms of knowing oneself, we aim that children become independent learners, setting goals and targets to improve their own knowledge and/or social skills. It is also essential for the school community to understand their own spiritual beliefs and respect the beliefs and feelings of others. The Christian Values of Respect and Responsibility underpin this.
Believe and Grow
The final aspect to our vision deals with the importance of the aspirations and self-esteem of our school community. We want our children to aim high and believe in their own ability. As teachers and stakeholders we endeavour to better our practice and give the children the best possible opportunities. Therefore, Creativity, Perseverance and Courage are the core Christian Values that we believe best represent ‘Believe and Grow’.
The whole school took part in a colour team cross country event during the Autumn Term. We had to run around the field for different distances depending on our year group. We had great fun and enjoyed running with our friends. Overall, the RED TEAM won and became our Cross Country Champions for the Autumn Term! Here are the results…
Year Six trip to Skillzone
Year Six had a wonderful time in 'Skillzone' learning about how to stay safe in a variety of different environments! Well done Year Six for representing our school fantastically well!
European Day of Languages 25th September 2020
The whole school enjoyed taking part in the European Day of Languages. Children loved learning about different countries and languages through games, songs and practical activities, as well as through online learning as part of Lingotot’s Free Online Languages Festival. What a fun day!
In Reception, children focused their learning around the countries of Poland and Ukraine. They learnt about where these countries are in the world and then used cutting and sticking skills to create their own flags. The children also learnt some colours in Polish before colouring in their own rainbows.
Children in Year 1 took part in a range of activities throughout the day, after starting the morning off by saying ‘Hello’ to one another in different languages, including the Russian ‘Privyet!’ (pree-vyet). Year 1 then transformed into Spanish Superheroes and described themselves using Superhero powers in Spanish! In the afternoon, children became French Pirates and enjoyed playing a Pirate game, complete with actions to match commands given.
In year 2, children took part in a range of activities based on the Lingotot virtual online sessions. Children had fun learning how to say the names of Minecraft characters in Spanish, how to greet each other in German as well as how to describe their families in Arabic! One of the children also brought in work from home to share some Spanish that she had learnt.
Children in Year 3 learned how to sing Happy Birthday in Spanish. They created birthday cards with the message ‘Feliz Cumpleanos’ and learnt how to say how old they are in Spanish using Spanish numbers. In addition, children ‘visited’ famous Spanish landmarks using Google Earth and created their own posters about these landmarks using Pic Collage on the iPads.
In Year 4, children focused on the Spanish language. They joined in with a Lingotot virtual assembly and became Spanish Super heroes! Year 4 learned how to say numbers to 10 in Spanish with Sergio Agüero and also learnt some of the Spanish colours to create a rainbow on Seesaw.
To revise the KS2 French Focus vocabulary, Year 5 created board games for younger children using the French Focus questions and answers. They showed brilliant respect in order to listen and create their games collaboratively. Year 5 also used the iPads to revise how to talk about their likes and dislikes in French.
In Year 6, children revised key questions, answers and phrases in French. They enjoyed playing games, singing songs and completing activities based on their learning from online sessions by Lingotot. Year 6 covered a range of topics throughout the day and then pulled all of their learning together to create their own mini French dictionaries.
